Luis Mi Valles
Born in Valladolid (Spain), in the so called estate of 'La Victoria' ("The Victory") in November, 1973; At 10 he begins his piano studies under the influence of his father, an avid listener of music. In 1987 is admitted to entry the Professional Conservatoire of Music Studies where he will develop his classical skills, obtaining in 1996 the' Piano Teacher Diploma' although he decided that instead of following the classical track, his career needed a turn towards a more modern and creative side of music (jazz, latin,flamenco,etc...) and feels the desire of experimenting new rhythms and forms. Fascinated by the music of Lennon and McCartney since he was a child, as his musical knowledge matures, he finds inspiration in the figure of the great Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Herbie Hancock , Chick Corea among others and non pianists like Vicente Amigo, Pat Metheny, Paco De Lucia or Prince. Looking forward to fulfilling his need he moves his residence to Madrid in 1998 where he will get involved with Flamenco and Latin music. He studies at Escuela de Nuevas Musicas and Escuela Popular with known Spanish musicians like Pedro Ojesto, Joaquin Chacon,Tony Heymer and Polo Orti, at the same time, he begins playing with different formations among the main Latin bands in the area, jazz groups like 'The Gallery' and the jazz fussion trio 'UT'....It is at this point when he begins teaching classical & jazz piano until the end of 2004 when he moves to London where he currently works as a with Latin/Jazz bands, Gospel RnB groups ,ballet, tap/jazz dance and as a session player for recording studios.
